The Marshall Centre for Infectious Diseases Research and Training at the University of Western Australia (UWA) is a world-class medical research facility established in 2007. Named in honor of Nobel Laureates Professor Barry Marshall and Professor Robin Warren—whose groundbreaking discovery of Helicobacter pylori as the cause of peptic ulcer disease transformed medical science—the Centre stands as a beacon of clinical excellence. Located within the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre, the largest healthcare complex in the Southern Hemisphere, the facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including advanced genomic sequencing and molecular microbiology platforms. Under the leadership of Professor Barry Marshall, the Centre is dedicated to high-impact research, focusing on the identification, surveillance, and diagnosis of infectious diseases, while fostering the next generation of scientific talent.
